Our process for joining the SMP is a bit different from other servers. In order to ensure the best possible experience for everyone, we require an application, an interview, and a probationary period for every member. This vetting process has created a community where stealing, griefing, and hacking are essentially non-existent and overall impossible. Here’s a bit about each step of that process.
The Application
This is the first step in the process to join our SMP. Upon joining our server, you should get a message from the Titan in the #welcome channel, with an button that will open a 2 part application form. Please make sure to fill out everything as accurately as possible! This ensures you get through the process as fast as possible. After this step, keep an eye out for a ping from our moderators.
The Interview
This step occurs after the application. Don’t think of this as a job interview. We welcome people of all skill levels! It is more of a get-to-know-you session so that we can better understand who you are as a person and also tell you information about the server. When a Moderator is available, they will either ping the “In Application” role (which you receive after completing an application) or specific people to see if anyone is available to do their interview. You can also ping the Moderators when you are around, but please do not overuse this! Depending on who is doing the interview and how everyone gets along, interviews can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and 30 minutes. This is also when we will get you set up at a base on the server.
Probation
Probationary periods last for one month, beginning on the date you put your application in. For example, if you send in your application on the 3rd of January, your probation will be up on the 3rd of February. During this time, the staff team will be keeping a bit of a closer eye on you to see how you interact with the community, as well as see if you are giving what you are taking from the community. In general, the more you interact with the community, the more likely you are to pass probation. During the week your probation is set to end, the Moderators will vote to decide whether or not you stay. In the event of a tie, the Chief Moderator has the casting vote. Admins are allowed to veto if they see fit, after discussion with the Senior Admin. As the owner of the server, Lux has the right to overrule as he sees fit. Typically, you will know by the following weekend if you have passed or not. If you have not passed, you are always welcome to rejoin when you have time!
